Random stuff I found on my phone while waiting at the bus stop - -

Home-made marshmallows.. they were good - now if I could make them into Peeps.. Been making a lot of bread with the Kitchenaid dough hook, but this is the bread I would love to be able to make - From Wegmans, I think I will start growing a sourdough starter.

An old picture of Philly Cat at the vet - she just layed in the scale for the whole visit.

Dino fabric from JoAnns - for J's future room.

Snow

We walked on the trail by us down to the playground.. Lots of people out... grouchy cross country skiers.. some nice dogs... people sledding on a wussy hill.. but we had the playground to ourselves.
Nylon pants plus snowy slide = going way faster than you thought...

Talking tubes..

Unfair advantage in snowball fight...

C was very proud to wear a "Pop" hat..

J being a "snow plow"...

"Angels" - not...

We walked over 4 soccer fields to get back to the car.. W carried J mostly.. and C lost a boot.. and whined.. but we made it.. there were drifts up to my thighs.. so it wasn't easy.. Once we were back in the car we stopped at Wegmans to rent a movie.. and we could see how dark the sky was over the lake, so we decided to go check it out.. Kids had a candy bar and were ready to go again.

Our main road is called Long Pond Rd... is goes almost direct to the lake.. this is the marshy part of Long Pond.. there are several Ponds along the edge of the lake.. Long Pond is the largest.. in the summer we have seen huge white swans on a nest here.

Looking over the canal.. the Lake is to the left.. there are little restaurants and sailboat rentals all around.

Looking down the canal towards the lake - there were Mallards pushing through the ice chunks.

Lighthouse at the end of the pier.. we have been there in the summer too.. you can walk all the way out to it.. took this picture to show how black the sky was over the lake.. just offshore it was a super bright blue.

standing on the beach - the lake is frozen for about 20 feet.. you can see the wave spouting up over the ice.. we were afraid to get any closer with the kids.. due to the sand/snow and wind.. we couldn't see the safe places to walk..

Our back to the lake - the park area - carousel..playground etc.. closed of course

Crazy blue sky over Ontario Beach
